THOSE WHO ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO MARRY
Welcome to the last edition of our Singles World for 2021. In this edition, I will continue from where I stopped last month on mental unstableness. May we not make irreversible mistakes in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
6.
Don’t Marry Someone who is Mentally Unstable 2
Mental Instability: In the November edition, I gave you three manifestations of somebody who is mentally unstable and who should not get married. The three manifestations are: Walking Alone, Soliloquising, Unkemptness and Hearing Voices. In this edition, I will give you more signs to show someone that is mentally unstable. Such a person is not qualified to marry.

How do you know if someone is mentally unstable? The following manifestations will help you:

Withdrawn/Solitary Life: Those who are mentally unstable always like to live solitary lives. They are naturally withdrawn from people. Just as they like to walk alone, they also like to live alone. They walk alone. They talk alone. They live alone. This solitary living is one of their characteristics. They withdraw from their friends and relations. No roommate. No neighbour. No friend. They feel more comfortable living alone than living with friends or relations. Even when they are at home on holidays, they will isolate themselves inside the room without relating with people as such. Such a total reclusive life may be a sign that such a person is mentally ill. How can a person who likes to live alone get married? If you marry such a person, you will be in big trouble.

Truancy: A mentally unstable person will always be a truant at work, in school and everywhere that requires his/her presence. Since he is obedient to the voices that talk to him often, such voices will tell him to be absent from work, school, church and every other place where his life can enjoy a facelift. The devil wants to ruin his life; so he will keep him away from every place where he can be helped. He will keep away from the church where he can be prayed for. Such a person will drop out of school and if he does not drop out, he is not likely to pass with flying colours because of his truancy. For his truancy from work, one day, he will be sacked and his life will become more miserable.

Moodiness/Delusion: Moodiness is another feature of mentally unstable people. They are temperamental with unpredictable emotions. Their minds are confused. Particularly, they are always sad, sulky and depressed. That is why they are unsociable. Besides, they are very pessimistic about life. They are deluded and they are thus detached from reality. They may have a feeling that nobody loves them and that they are alone in the world. When someone is moody and depressed, he is predisposed to suicide. Such people often have suicidal thoughts, and their mood swings are quite disturbing and worrisome. If you try and query their moods in order to quarry some answers from them, you may not get any reasonable response. Surely, you cannot cope with a moody spouse in the house. This psychological abnormality needs some urgent intervention before it degenerates.

Hyperactivity Disorder: Some people are abnormally hyperactive, and we normally think that they are very nice and energetic because we take them to be extroverts. Those having hyperactivity disorders are very restless. They are also very talkative, impulsive, thoughtless and presumptuous. They have no control when talking. When they dance, it is excessive. When they sing, they are uncontrollable. When they pray, it is extreme. When they evangelise, they are wild and overenthusiastic. They can do vigil daily speaking in tongues excessively and loudly to the discomfort of everybody. Besides, they are strong-willed and uncontainable.

Anger: Excessive anger is also common with people that are mentally unstable. They can be terribly hostile and violent with people over frivolous issues. Such people, if not well managed, can be very dangerous to people and also to themselves. When they become angry, they can deploy anything around them to fight. They can destroy any of their own personal property or the property of others. Remember the anger of Simeon and Levi in the Bible. In Genesis 49:7, Jacob said “cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel.” You want to marry an angry person? Proverbs 22:24 says “make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go.” According to Proverbs 14:17 he that is soon angry is a foolish person. You want to marry a foolish person? Your life is not safe in his hands. Such a person should also keep off from the corridor of marriage. It is not meant for him or her.

People with mental unstableness are common today in the world and even right inside the church especially because of the lingering socio-economic crisis that has impacted negatively on the people. Such victims are difficult to confront with the reality of their conditions because they will not agree with you. For them, they are well and nothing is wrong with them.

Only proper counselling and divine intervention can set such people free. Please, don’t marry them no matter the pressure. And if you have any of these characteristics, be sincere to yourself. Give your life to Jesus and make yourself available for prayers and deliverance. You can also seek medical attention before it becomes too late. Your health first and then marriage later.

By the grace of God, we will continue from here in 2022. May the Lord keep us physically and mentally healthy. Please, don’t forget to send me your comments and testimonies. Till then, stay safe and God bless you. Wishing you a Prosperous New Year in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Pastor Jide Ajidahun

I’m thankful.
Thankful for the jaw dropping highs and the depressing lows.
2020 was tough in all manner of speaking for a lot of people including me.
I started this year with the mindset that I had 6 more months in school. I resumed in January with full energy ready to just give it my all. I had high hopes for this year and it was all planned out in my head.
Then Kobe Bryant died and I cried my eyes out like i knew him personally. Kobe’s death was like the beginning of the turbulence named 2020.
In March, we started hearing more news about COVID-19 and i thought at first it wouldn’t hit us till it did. Countries were getting locked down already and cases were surging.
We had just finished our end of posting exam when we got the news that we would go home for a month because of the virus.
We didn’t know what was ahead. I packed lightly and went home and a month became two and two became four and four became 6.
6 months at home. There were a lot of emotions during that period. A whole lot of crazy emotions. I was at my brightest and darkest during that time and I also worked on myself, being a better person. It wasn’t all bad.
The lockdown season made people realize a lot of things, discover new talents, embrace their faith, fall in love, make decisions that would affect them forever. It wasn’t just me that was affected, everyone was.
People had to put things on hold because of the virus, people lost loved ones, things were not just the same anymore. With the masks and the sanitizers, social and physical distancing. Society changed for us all.
We got the news eventually that we would resume October.
By that time, countries were gradually moving on and the vaccine studies were progressing. Lockdown was being lifted and safety measures were undertaken to limit the spread.
People were still dying either due to covid or some other disease; celebrities, politicians etc. I would wake up each morning and read about someone’s death.
We resumed and school work was overwhelming but I knew I had to give in my best because this was the last push.
At the same time, someone somewhere was trying to get back on their feet, trying for regain their finances, trying to heal physically and emotionally. Everyone was trying one way or the other to make 2020 not be complete waste.
Then there was the ENDSARS wave. October was a dark month. I can’t even begin to describe how I felt on 20-10-2020 but it was a dark time. Lives lost for what?
Well, their deaths won’t go in vain. That’s all I’m going to say.
We all lost something this year, material or not. This year was tough on everyone but we gained something else.
We gained life, renewed life. People still ended this year with a bang. Many found the love of their lives, many got the job of their dreams, some finally took that bold step, Many graduated and many survived.
Who would have thought the legendary 2020 still had some goodies to give?
So I’m thankful. Thankful for the struggles, thankful for the 7th year and the years past.
Thankful for my friends, my family, thankful for you and thankful to God.
I wrote this for you today.
You made it!
No matter the circumstances right now, you made it and you should be proud of where you are.
Enjoy your wins, learn from your losses but always celebrate yourself.
To discovering more of you and living your dreams.
Have an amazing 2021 and still stay safe, there’s a second wave out there 😉
