DANGEROUS PEOPLE TO MARRY
Compliments of the season to you all! Welcome to the last edition of our Singles’ World for 2022. Here again, I will discuss with you another type of person that you must not marry. May the Lord help you to toe the path of wisdom and obedience in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen

Don’t Marry an Unbeliever
One of the most dangerous people to marry on earth is an unbeliever; a non-Christian. I know some people may want to contend this with life experiences and their jaundiced theology. Some people believe that there are unbelievers who are enjoying their marriages. Some will also say that there are Christian marriages that are turbulent and choppy. There is nothing wrong if two unbelievers marry each other; it is a good match. It is like a goat marrying a goat. It is a good combination. They will both end in hell fire. Of what profit is their relationship then? But when a goat marries a sheep or a sheep marries a dog, there will be problems because they are not compatible even though they are all animals. Can a bird marry a cow? One wants to fly, but the other wants to walk. It is a dangerous mismatch.
Two believers can marry and still have very challenging difficulties and trying moments if they marry outside the will of God. It is not every Christian brother in the church that is compatible for you as a Christian sister. You have to wait on God for His guidance to know the will of God for you. However, there is no perfect marriage on earth. Every marriage has its own peculiar challenges even if you marry the will of God. Marrying an unbeliever is against the will of God. While there are manageable and controllable challenges, there are unbearable and life- threatening challenges. So, don’t rationalise the Word of God. Now, who is an unbeliever?
An unbeliever is a non-Christian who does not believe in the Word of God. 2 John 10 says, “If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed.” The Bible says, if anyone comes to you, and he does not believe in the teachings of Christ such as salvation, repentance from sin, holiness, the death and the resurrection of Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ as the Son of God, the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, church attendance, the Bible as the Word of God, faith, monogamy etc., don’t welcome such a person into your house not to talk of getting married to him or her.
You cannot marry someone who does not believe in the Word of your Saviour. So, an unbeliever does not believe in the Bible completely. Even those who believe in the Bible partially are unbelievers. Such people will have alternatives to Jesus Christ for solutions to their personal problems. If you believe in the Word of God, and your partner does not, you cannot marry each other. If you do, you are married to a dangerous partner. The alternative to the Word of God is the word of the devil; and that is not a good alternative.
An unbeliever is in darkness while a believer is in the light. So, light and darkness are incompatible. 2 Corinthians 6:14 says, “Be not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness? That is why an unbeliever does not see anything wrong in their evil works. The works of the flesh mentioned in Galatians 5: 19-21 such as: adultery, fornication, idolatry, murders, drunkenness, wrath, strife, heresies, witchcraft etc. are normal ways of life for unbelievers.
Polygamy, polyandry, homosexuality, immoralities, stealing, robbery, hacking, partying, cybercrimes, abortion, etc. are the lifestyles of unbelievers because they are in darkness. So, to them, there is nothing wrong with what they are doing. The god of this world has blinded their hearts. And their understanding has become darkened. That is why they “work all uncleanness with greediness” (Ephesians 4:18-19).
Sin means nothing to unbelievers. Premarital sex, abortion, polygamy, visiting herbalist homes, smoking, drinking, having side chicks, going to parties, beating their partners, using charms etc. are normal to them.
Unbelievers don’t like going to church. They sit down at home on Sunday morning watching movies, doing laundry etc.
Unbelievers like to go clubbing. They are given to frolicking and pleasures. They just want to enjoy life by eating, drinking, dancing, smoking and womanising etc.
Unbelievers don’t like reading the Bible, and praying is a big burden to some of them.
Some unbelievers are just mere church goers; they are not committed. They have no permanent church or permanent pastor.
An unbeliever is a religious person like Nicodemus in the Bible. They are committed and dedicated in the church but they are not living like Christians. They have the appearance of Christians but inwardly, they are not born again. They have the form of godliness, but they deny the power thereof- 2 Timothy 3:5. They are sanctimonious and hypocritical people. They believe they will make Heaven by their good deeds and by keeping the ordinances and traditions of men which are not after Christ. Such traditions include baptism, harvest, giving of free will offering, helping the poor, payment of tithe, circumcision, by being good and nice to people etc. Being born again transcends being nice to people.
