Merry Christmas everyone! wishing you guys all the good things life has to offer. This is the Olive branch’s first Christmas and we are very excited. That is why i, Ayokunle will be sharing my Christmas playlist and some other things. please enjoy, share and subscribe!
We all have different meanings of Christmas. The meaning of Christmas varies round the world. I believe Christmas means the celebration of the birth of Jesus. Some believe it’s when Santa Claus comes to deliver gifts through a chimney. Some don’t believe in Christmas at all and others believe Christmas is just another holiday season to enjoy the snow falling outside. Well, I’m Nigerian. Snow doesn’t fall here. I wanted to share with you guys my Christmas Playlist and how I get myself in the Christmas spirit. Most Nigerians will understand because Christmas spirit is hard to get here especially now with the recession. There’s no snow to motivate us. What we mostly do is prepare a lot of food and get ready to entertain visitors. That’s why I and my brother always play some Christmas songs to get us in a cheerful mood. I have listened to some since I was little and I discovered some when I grew up. So here it goes, my top 10 Christmas songs:
1. All I want for Christmas is you- Justin Bieber
I actually love this song so much and even thought JB’s own is the cover of the original by Mariah Carey. They are both nice.
2. Let it snow- Frank Sinatra
Legendary song! That’s all I can say
3. Silent night-
I love the peace and calmness of this song. The name says it all.
4. Rudolph the red nosed reindeer
Another funny Christmas carol I love.
5. Oh holy night- Celine Dion
There are many versions of this hymn but i love this version, maybe because of Celine Dion’s powerful voice. They also played part of it in home alone 2(if you can remember)
6. Mary’s boy child (oh my lord) – Boney M
This classical song by Boney M is actually very popular. Trust me
7. Christmas lights- Cold play
Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! This song made me want to hear more of cold play.
8. Santa Claus is coming to town
The lyrics make me laugh and Justin bieber’s version makes me dance. Christmas isn’t complete until I play this song.
9. The first noel
The tune is amazing especially when a choir is singing it.
10. Drummer boy
You can get so many versions of this song but what I love most about it are the lyrics.
There are so many beautiful Christmas songs and this is just my own personal top 10. There are also Christmas movies and I don’t even need a top 10 but there are 4 movies or animation I can’t ever forget: how the Grinch stole Christmas which is my best, This Christmas (Chris brown was in it), All dogs go to heaven is an animation but a very good one and Edward scissor hands( quite weird and old but I actually enjoyed) and elf. Well, that’s all I have for you. Remember the reason for the season which is Jesus Christ. Please enjoy your Christmas wherever you are and stay safe.
