PATH TO SELF-DISCOVERY
In this column, I will be sharing with you quite a number of exciting articles that promise to be stimulating, edifying, enlightening and enriching. So, welcome on board as we feast together on this great but very impactful voyage. The world of the singles is a dynamic one. It is full of life and it is with a lot of funs and excitement. It is also a transitional phase of life. Those who are old today once belonged to your world. Some of them are either full of gratitude to God or full of regrets now. The way you live your life now will determine your rest or stress in your next phase of life. It is important for you to discover yourself and the purpose of your existence for you to function maximally and fulfill your purpose in life. Quite a number of our young folks today are given over to frolicking, debauchery, immoralities and inanities of life under the guise of “enjoyment” or feeling belonged.
The freedom that the singles life offers them is abused with impunity. The period of youth should be a period of self-discovery, a period of caution, a period of watchfulness and a period of seeking God. We are told in the Bible that “But she that liveth in pleasure is dead while she liveth.”- I Tim. 5:6. Galatians 5: 13, says “For brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh…” Today’s singles want absolute freedom from their parents and guardians. They rely more on the guidance of their peers than on the guidance of their parents. They prefer to seek guidance from their friends than from their pastors provided such pastors are godly anyway. Life is run on the principle of checks and balances.
Anyone who wants to have absolute freedom will end up in the hands of Satan, the master deceiver. Proverbs 7:1, says “My son, keep my words, and lay up my commandments with thee.” Proverbs 4:1, says “Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.” This unrestricted and uncontrolled liberty of yours in the name of modernity and civilization will be unprofitable for you in the end. So, come with humility under the guidance and leadership of your parents and pastor, who have passed through your world before, and allow God to use them for you. Your life must be controlled and monitored by the searchlight of the Lord so that you will not walk away into destruction in ignorance or in foolishness.
To achieve this, you must submit yourself to the Lordship of Jesus Christ who alone will provide you all the guidance that you need in life. He will provide light on your paths and show you where the gullies, pits and the traps of life are so that you will not fall into them. He will manage your liberty for you so that you will not abuse it. Your wisdom and your intellectual ability cannot save you. Your wealth and your position in life cannot save you. Your astuteness, oracular ability and secular connections are nothing to Jesus. Jesus is the giver of life. He wants to save you and lead you in the way everlasting. All you need do is to confess your sins to Him and ask for His forgiveness. Then, accept Him as your Lord and Saviour. He will save you. You can then join a good Bible believing Church where you can fellowship with other brethren regularly so that you can grow in faith. The Lord is waiting for you.
As you begin your life with Jesus, He will lead you to a life of self-discovery. If you do not discover who you are in life, you will continue to navigate the seas of life without any direction, without any focus, without any compass and without any destination. You can, therefore, be hijacked by the devil as one of his instruments these end times.
