399 OR 400, RONALDO IS STILL KING
After a breathtaking hat trick performance from the Portuguese forward, the Real Madrid forward now counts at 400 goals at least to Real Madrid in 389 games, but according to other experts claiming it is just 399 due to the goal against Real Deportivo given to Pepe, though 399 or 400, Ronaldo still has more than enough games to reach that landmark. He clearly showed he’s still a force to be reckoned with after blowing Atletico dreams of a champions league cup to bits. He got his first goal on the 17th minute with a nice glancing header from Casemiro’s knock back and got his second when Benzema’s flick found him on the edge of the box with the man firing an unstoppable effort past Oblak, his third came after a wonderful counter attack with Vazquez doing much work to lay the ball for Ronaldo. That’s now eight goals in three games. He is really loving the UCL.
PREMIER LEAGUE TITLE RACE HEATS UP
The Premier league title race continues to heat up with leaders Chelsea getting an all-important win at Goodson’s Park against Everton F.C in a three to nil score line. The leaders started well but weren’t able to capitalize on chances as good ones came to Eden and Costa, though Spanish forward Pedro Ledesma was able to beat the goalkeeper with a stunning effort from 30 yards with Gary Cahill adding a second after a spilled free kick from Hazard. Substitute Cesc Fabregas and Willian combined for the third goal.
Elsewhere at the White Hart Lane, Tottenham also showed great character against Arsenal as they won two nil thanks to goals from Harry Kane and Dele Alli to keep up the pressure on the leaders. MBAPPE WHO???
Wonder kid Kylian Mbappe who has scored in the previous four Champions league matches was shut down in the match against Juventus by the profound BBC defense and the Veteran goalkeeper Buffon. it wasn’t much of a contest though he had few chances early on in the first half with a glancing header straight at Buffon and another flick which got saved also and caused Bazargli some problems with his pace though as the game continued, he was less influential and ended up in the losing side thanks to a Higuain brace. That’s over 600 minutes since the Italian has been breached.
HIGUAIN BREAKS DROUGHT
Gonzalo Higuain scored a brace against Monaco at the Stade De Loius and put the game to bed, via good plays from Dani Alves and Paulo Dybala. With the brace, he broke a record of not scoring in knockouts for four years. His first came in the first half after a flick from Dybala found Higuain in space who played in Alves who then returned the favor with a nice back heel into the box where Higuain coolly slotted home. His second also came after Dybala won the ball from France international Bakayoko then played in Alves who floated in a cross at back post for Higuain to propel in the net past Subasic. He would now hope this would propel Juventus to their second final in three years.
