THE MAKING OF A HUSBAND 7
Compliments of the season to you! In my last two articles, I harped on the need for a would-be husband to have a crèche mentality as well as the Old People’s home mentality. My submission is simply that if you can live in peace with a five-year girl as well as with an eighty-year old woman, you can live with a woman successfully in the house ceteris paribus. I will be discussing another very vital ingredient that you will need if you want to be a successful husband.
Intercession: It’s quite unfortunate that we live in an age where today’s youths live prayerless lives. They gamble with their search for future partners without any serious prayer backing. Carnal and mundane strategies are wantonly displayed to catch and attract their partners. Spirituality has given over to carnality. Online games and machines are heavily relied upon to fetch them their husbands and wives, while those who appear to be spiritual among them employ the services of prayer contractors, and thus fall victims of false prophets who capitalise on their spiritual lethargy and witlessness to exploit them.
If you marry your wife through the machine, are you going to sustain the home with the same machine? If through online games, you find your wife, can you rely on the online games for your home to stand? If you do not know how to pray now and seek God’s face over whom to marry, how do you cope when you are married? It is a serious issue with today’s youths. Most of them are carnal, ungodly, playful, completely given to lasciviousness to work all uncleanness with greediness and without any serious thirst for God and spiritual growth if they are even born again at all. They merely have a form of godliness but they deny the power of God thereof –II Timothy 3:5. It is the tragedy of this generation.
Marriage is a serious business in life. It is often fraught and bedeviled with all kinds of unimaginable physical and mostly spiritual challenges that will require a spiritually hot and prayerful husband to tackle. I say often that the devil does not want any Christian family to stand. He hates Christian families passionately. Why? Because if all of you are saved and then rise up in prayers against his kingdom, he knows he is in trouble. Even if you and your wife as Christians “shall agree as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven”- Matthew 18:19. The devil is always in enmity with Christian homes. That was why the devil quickly struck at the family of Mr. and Mrs. Adam in their house at Eden because he knew both of them were out to destabilise his kingdom. Unfortunately, the couple succumbed to the devil’s temptation and fell.
As I was saying earlier, some of the common family problems include:
A. Physical/Health Issues: barrenness, infertility, lack of sexual satisfaction, pre-ejaculation, frigidity, low sperm count, miscarriage, still-birth, high blood pressure, fibroid, cancer etc.
B. Spiritual Issues: nightmares, eating in the dream, spirit wife/spirit husband, being pursued by masquerades in the dream, spiritual attack against your family with strange diseases, meeting fetish objects in front of your house/office, seeing snakes inside your bedrooms, a witch threatening you or your wife physically to attack you and kill you etc.
C. Economic Issues: poverty, lack, devourers, lack of employment, inadequate resources, loss of job, loss of property, financial burden, too many dependents etc.
D. Relationship Issues: constant fighting in the home, lack of love, strange women, lack of understanding, hatred to your spouse, stubborn and wayward children, dull children, hatred towards your family by your neighbours, in laws, and relations out of envy etc.
E. Violence: attacks of armed-robbery, threats to your life, accidents etc.
The list is endless. Nobody prays to experience any of these, and it is my prayer that you will not experience any of them. The truth is that many homes experience them. Let me tell you, there is no family on earth that does not have its own challenges. The challenges only differ from one family to another. The difference is in how you address them. Very many of them need to be dealt with spiritually through prayers.
Running abroad.is not the solution to spiritual problems. Although some of these problems can be addressed by medical doctors and professional counselors, I tell you, many of the problems have deep spiritual causes that need to be tackled headlong spiritually. For instance, if your pregnant wife cries from her sleep and tells you that an unknown man sleeps with her in her dream and on waking up, she suffers miscarriage, you should know that that is purely spiritual and not medical.
Of course, your doctor will clean up her uterus but he cannot clean up the spirit husband. If your wife meets a fetish object in front of her shop, what will you do? If you do not have penile erection when you are close to your wife, but at the thought of a strange girl, your love stick goes crazy, you should know that you are into a spiritual battle.
You must be an intercessor and a hot prayer warrior in the home. The fire on your personal and family altars must be very hot that your house will become too hot a zone for the devil to operate. You should be able to tackle small small headaches with prayers of faith at home without disturbing your pastor. If you rush to your pastor every time you have nightmares or when a small wall gecko falls on your bed, you are not a strong husband.
In Ephesians 5:23 the Bible says “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.” In Ephesians 5:25, the Bible says “Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the Church, and gave himself for it.” You are the head of your wife. Part of your responsibilities is to provide spiritual leadership in the family by being the watchman, the pastor, the intercessor and the prophet for your family. Don’t just pray; also lead your family to pray regularly for the home. If the devil enters your home, it is your fault. Your spiritual antenna must be strong enough to perform outstanding reconnaissance feats with the power of God backing you. Don’t forget your wife is to support you.
You don’t have to be a spiritual giant to be a good husband, but an unspiritual husband will make his family an easy prey for the devil. Start developing your prayer life now if you want to be a successful husband. Are you born again? Are you filled with the Holy Spirit with the ability to speak in tongues? Without the Holy Spirit, there is no intercession. Ask for the fire of the Holy Spirit upon your prayer life today.
