It was a bright sunny day and it was definitely looking like it would be a great day. The flowers were blooming with all the purple daffodils and the red roses and white peonies.
Nature was really blessing David with the cool autumn breeze and the sun that wasn’t so sunny. It was a good day for a wedding and a great day to be finally joined with the woman of your dreams. Cara was the loveliest person he had ever met or anyone he had ever met. Everyone loved her even his very selective mother. She had this bright shining teeth and almost white hair and slender figure but she had a largely fair backside, thanks to her Mexican ancestry. She looked angelic in a way and the only thing David thought about was how God sent him an angel through Cara. They had been dating for a year and David felt it was time to finally tie the knot. He couldn’t even think of any other woman to be with him than Cara. Not Jada, Not Myra or even Leila. Cara was “IT”.
“David” he heard his father’s voice. “Yes Father” he replied as he opened the hotel room door. “You are ready…” he touched David’s suit then smiled. He came inside and closed the door behind him. “I just want to give you some. You know. Marital advice before you get married” his father said with the smile still on his face. “I know we haven’t been close from the very beginning but I always wanted the best for you…” David sighed thinking his dad was going to question his sudden marriage to Cara. “… but Cara is the perfect fit for you and I can’t think of anyone better for you and I’m just really proud that you have finally decided to settle” David was very shocked. Not only at the statement his father made but that his father was already tearing up. “Thank you so much dad” he called him dad for the very first time because they had evolved in their relationship from just a father to a friend. There were just too much emotions flying in the air. Then his dad laughed to break the silence and tension.
Just as the bonding was about to continue, there was another knock on the door. “Who is it?” David asked. “It’s Andrew” the voice answered. Andrew was David’s younger brother and best friend. The voice really sounded urgent. David stood to open it and met Andrew’s tense face.
‘what is it Andrew?” David asked with an uneasy tone. “It is Cara” David’s face changed instantly and His Dad had already stood up. “What happened to Cara?” the place was silent for a while. “She ran away” Andrew replied silently and the whole place was still quiet. “What do you mean?” David was laughing then he pushed Andrew from the door and ran to Cara’s room. “Cara! Cara!” David started shouting until he pushed the door open. He didn’t see Cara. He only saw his sister and his mother.
“David, I’m so sorry” his mother started walking towards him and crying. “I am really really sorry” she held him and kept crying. He looked at the bed and saw the 100,000 dollars Vera Wang gown that was specially designed for her still lying there untouched “Where did she go?” that was the only thing he could say. He was too shocked to even think of any other possibility. “We don’t know David” his sister Lori answered. She wasn’t emotional about it like his mother. She was the strongest after him. His dad and brother were both talking on their phones, probably dispatching men to find Cara. His family wasn’t one to be messed with. They would find Cara no matter where she went. His Dad gave the phone to a bodyguard and walked towards them. His mother was still holding him. “The bank just called. Your joint account with Cara has been emptied…” he was stunned. “I also sent men to the house… All her properties and all your valuables have been taken” his sister started muttering some angry things. “It couldn’t be Cara… she didn’t love me for my money” David repeated so sure of himself. “We checked the security footage David, she was the one” His father ended. It was like a bombshell to him. After all the promises they made together. She reassured him and he trusted her. He deliberately didn’t do a background check just to show he trusted her. She was too genuine, too pure. He walked out of the room and went to the nearest empty bathroom he could see. He locked the door, sat down and burst into tears. He wept for his stupidity and his loss. He had lost his heart.
