Welcome back to the April edition of our singles world. As we answer more questions in this edition, I believe the Lord will fill your heart with understanding and grant you the desires of your heart in the name of Jesus Christ.
Question: What are the lies that young people of today believe before going into marriage?
Answer: This is a very good question. Some of the lies are these:
That men are never to be trusted with money: Both men and women are prone to telling lies. Just as men tell lies, women also tell lies. Satan is the originator of lies. In Genesis 3:4, the serpent (Devil) lied to Eve. From then, sin entered into the world. In Genesis 4:9, Cain lied to God and said “I know not: Am I my brother’s keeper?” In Genesis 27:24, Jacob lied to Isaac his father. In Joshua 2:4, Rahab (a woman) lied to the king of Jericho. In 2 Kings 5:22, Gehazi lied to Naaman. Both Ananias and Sapphira (a couple) lied to the Holy Ghost as recorded in Acts 5:1-9.
So, deception is not a function of gender. If you believe this lie, you will not share your money and wealth with your husband. Trust is one of the pillars that keep the home. Once trust breaks down in the family, what remains are marital skeletons and the gory shadows. Don’t marry your husband with that erroneous belief from the myth and the pit of hell. The Bible says, in Revelation 21:8, that all liars shall have their part in the lake of fire. The Bible does not say all men liars or all women liars. All liars means anyone whether a man or a woman. Please, don’t be deceived.
That all men are involved extramarital affairs: So, women should not worry about this but to accept this as a fact. Again, this is another lie from the pit of hell. The implications of this lie are these:
The idea is to make our women to accept adultery or infidelity as the norm and as the general weakness of all men. When our women accept this lie and they don’t quarrel with their unfaithful husbands, the homes will be given over to the devil to govern. This is like legitimising adultery and it is satanic and unbilical.
Two, we will have more bastards in the homes. Our homes will now be the haven for propagating sexual promiscuity and transmitting sexual diseases.
Third, our sisters will no longer bother whether their fiancés are Christians or not since they believe that all men commit extra marital affairs.
There will be no difference between a Christian home and the home of an unbeliever.
There will be marital chaos and the society will suffer for it ultimately.
Wives too may then have an excuse to commit the sin since the husbands are doing it. That reminds me of a joke made concerning a couple. The husband wants to travel to another city for a conference for some days. Apparently, he is not telling his wife the truth but the wife knows her husband to be promiscuous. She then put about ten rubbers inside her husband’s bag and told him that he would need them when he gets to his destination since she would not be there to satisfy his sexual desires. The husband thanked his wife for her understanding. Just before the husband left, the wife quickly went to his husband’s bag and removed about three of the rubbers. She told the husband that she too would need three of the rubbers for her own comfort before the husband returns. She asked her husband to manage the remaining seven. Furiously, the husband said he was no longer travelling again. He then went back to the house. The wife just sneered at him. This joke further shows the vulnerability of both genders to extra marital affairs.
Not all men are involved in extra marital affairs. That some men do it does not mean that all men are doing it. By the grace of God, I have not been involved in any extra marital affair since I was married 25 years ago. And I know there are many men outside there who have spent well over 40 to 50 and even 60 years in their marriages and who have not been involved in any form of extra marital affairs.
Both men and women are prone to extra marital affairs just as we are prone to any sin if we are not watching and praying. For unbelievers, having extra marital affairs might just be normal and also difficult to stop but for believers in Christ Jesus, it is an abomination which should not even be mentioned. The Bible condemns adultery in the following scriptures: Matt. 5:27, 19:9, I Cor. 6:9, 2 Pet. 2:14. The Bible talks of the adultery of Tamar (a woman) in Genesis 38:24 and also of another woman in John 8:3. In Proverbs 6:26, the Bible warns men against the adulteress. In Revelation 2:22, the Bible describes Jezebel as an adulteress. The Bible says “Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation; and she repented not.”
So, women also commit extra marital affairs. We have heard stories of women who gave birth to four children and the husband trained all of them to the university level only for the woman to confess later that only two of the children belonged to her husband while the other two belonged to her concubine. There was also this joke that I came across some time ago on the social media. A DNA machine was brought into a church on Sunday to test the paternity of all the children. They said immediately all the women left the church including the pastor’s wife. It sounds funny but it speaks volumes.
James 4:4 says “Ye adulterers and adulteresses.” This is an address to both men and women committing extra marital affairs. That is why in I Corinthians 7:5, the Bible tells both husbands and wives not to deprive one another of the conjugal rights (sex) “except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.” Here, the Bible recognises that both husbands and wives can be tempted with adultery if they are not very careful.
By the grace of God, we will continue from here next month. Please, don’t forget to send me your comments. Till then, stay safe and stay blessed.
