Hey guys, happy new month again! today we are posting a featured poem by Nifemi Fasuyi. the poem is about change in Nigeria. i mean with our recent predicament of no money anywhere. the drought is affecting everyone in every little way and also Buhari’s strong determination to fight corruption. Nigerians are losing their patience but i just believe that we cant expect this country to change just like that without experiencing difficulty. Nothing good comes easy. That is my own opinion though but Nifemi is speaking for “the common man”. So enjoy the poem, relate to it and drop your comments.
Nigeria has been going through a lot and I felt like writing what the common man feels on the inside. Practically every class of people feel the increase and scarcity. Sure others have it worse but then we asked for change, didn’t we? So here’s change.
CHANGE
The clear blue hue of the sky
Made one ignore how the earth was dry
The air was filled with young dreams
That no one expected the screams
Earlier the rulers had made promises
And the people had shouted praises
It therefore came with an increase
In the cost of goods and services
Soon life became a survival
All battling to see the next day
No increase in wages
No sales in the stores
They rained curses on the rulers
Others wailed to God
Once again we were deceived
And their thick necks grew thicker
If we could have predicted
We might have averted
But we were neck deep
In the struggle to feed
When will the lies end?
Oh God, oh Lord! Deliver us
We simply ask for good roads,
Electricity, jobs and food
APC- CHANGE!
How we’d wished we were content
But what can we do
But sit, hope and wait?
