My people,it’s been a minute,🤭🤭
See ehn, when you start experiencing adulting in your late 20’s it feels like you’re carrying over a course from your first year and now preparing for it in your 7th year or you suddenly find yourself in a 6 lane expressway in a car with little or no driving experience and all you can see are cars moving fast all around you. There’s no instructor with you, just people honking their horns and you don’t even know what to do.
You mentally scream “Somebody helpppp!”😩😩
That’s how I’ve felt for the past two years. After my induction/graduation , the next thing I had packed my bags and I was shipped to a different state for my internship/housejob ( i already shared my experiences)
Just as I was adjusting, one year was over and within a couple of weeks, I found myself in another state with yet another culture shock.
This story will be in 2 parts because there’s so much detail to share but this is my One year service to country story plus ad ons
Camp
Locating camp was much more difficult than i had anticipated. At one point, I felt I was almost out of Nigeria 😂😂😂 until we eventually found the orientation camp in the middle of nowhere. After registration, I found myself in a heavily congested room with bunk beds and a very hot weather ( we were all panting for water like a deer 😂). On top of this,we had to wear white all the time.
It got interesting towards the end when I already knew the UI/UX 😂 but I was happy it ended. 3 weeks went by not as fast as i wanted. I was more excited to be back in the real world.
Settling down
The next program was to locate my place of assignment, sort out accommodation and resume work. It was still a bit dramatic but God in his loving mercy sent me help in everything. I got my accommodation and remodeled it a bit to my taste. This was a first for me; having my own space and being able to do what i wanted with it. Well, the happiness didn’t last, I discovered mysteries in the room.
1st shocker
On the third day of living alone,it rained heavily and the sleep is supposed to get really sweet then but guess what, i had a rude awakening to cold drops of water on my body. The roof was leaking. I had to sweep ,clean and also put bowls where the leaks were. When morning came, i got someone to fix it and it was finally done after 2 attempts. The winds in that place also really scared me. I saw the story of the disciples and the storm in another light. Sometimes, it felt like the building would collapse and i held on to my pillow and prayed because if Jesus slept through that ,I could do that too 😂
Then the story of the scorpion….😩
To be continued…
