THOSE WHO ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO MARRY
I welcome you again to the November edition of our Singles World. In this edition, I will discuss with you another person who is not qualified to marry and whom you should not marry. May you not learn too late in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

Don’t Marry Someone who is Mentally Unstable
Mental Instability: If you are mentally ill, marriage is not for you yet until you are well, and you must not marry someone who is mentally ill if you want joy, happiness, satisfaction and fulfilment in your marriage. If you are not bothered about the joy of marriage or the blessings and the fulfilment that God expects you to have and you think you can marry this brother or sister irrespective of his or her mental condition, it is a sign that you are not mentally well too. You surely need some attention.
How do you know if someone is mentally unstable? The following manifestations will help you:
Walking Alone: Those who are mentally ill always like to walk alone. Some of them walk straight like a tree. We were created as gregarious beings. We are meant to socialise. That does not mean that you cannot have some lonely moments once in a while but when you always like to be lonely in school, lonely at home, lonely in church and lonely everywhere, there is something wrong with you. Such a person should not be married. If he shows interest in marrying you, please, decline. He needs help immediately. If such a person gets married, he will not want to relate with his spouse. Isn’t that a big problem? He wants to walk alone. That is crazy.
Soliloquizing: A mentally ill person will always like to talk alone, and when he is talking, those that are close to him may hear him. Walking alone and talking alone are signs that the person is ill mentally. Such a person should not dabble into marriage at all. And you should not consider his proposal when he asks for your hand in marriage. No matter how beautiful she may be, look away from her, please because when you are sleeping in the night, she will wake up and be talking to herself. She is communicating with the invisible beings. It’s scary mehn!
Unkemptness: Someone that is mentally unstable will be unkempt. He will not take his bath regularly; his hair will be rumpled; the collar of his shirt will be dirty; he can put on bathroom slippers to school etc. His shoes will not be polished and his socks will be dirty. That is how he lives his life without realising that he is not well. No matter his level of spirituality, academic excellence, financial strength and cognitive superiority, don’t marry him or her. He is not a material for marriage. What he needs now is healing and deliverance.
Hearing Voices: Some people always hear strange voices that are always authoritative giving them commands that they cannot turn down such as:
“Get down from that car and run back home!”
“Don’t put on that black skirt because there is a demon inside it!”
“Don’t go for your exams today because you don’t need the certificate!”
‘”Go and cut your hair now because demons are there!”
Don’t go to that church again because they are planning to kill you there!”
“Don’t eat that food because it has been poisoned!”
“Leave school and start preaching from street to street because the Lord has called you and if you don’t obey, I will kill you!”
I Cor. 14:10 says “There are, it may be, so many kinds of voices in the world, and none of them is without signification.” In other words, there are all kinds of voices in the world today, and all of them have their meanings. We have the voice of God, the voice of the devil and the voice of men. But this voice is from the devil and not from God.
The purpose is to ruin their lives. Whenever they hear these voices, they will leave anything sane that they are doing and obey these demonic voices. No matter how hard you try to dissuade them from obeying the voices, they will not. In fact, they will see you as their real enemies. If you marry a wife like that, she will be obeying the invisible voices rather than the voice of men. She can wake up at night and start cutting her hairs at the command of the demons. She can even open the doors of the house and go out in the night, at the command of the devil, to preach the word or even walk away from the town to an unknown destination.
She can pour out all the foodstuffs in the house because a voice tells her the foods have been poisoned. She can even begin to beat all her children because a voice tells her they are all possessed. What if the devil tells her to kill you because you don’t love her?
You want to marry somebody who is always listening to spirits and not to human beings? Don’t, please! And if you are the one, please, seek medical and spiritual help immediately because you are not well. Marriage is not what you need now but healing and deliverance and the Lord will heal you.
Unfortunately, most people that are mentally unstable do not realise that they are not well. They do not see anything wrong with walking alone, talking alone, talking aloud to themselves, hearing voices and being unkempt. Such people live around us. Do not attempt to marry them by over spiritualising the whole issue.
Also, do not encourage them to get married in the hope that marriage will solve their problem. It will not but rather, it will aggravate it. If you know people that are having this issue, encourage them to seek medical and spiritual assistance immediately. The Lord will deliver them.
